Stefano Domenicali wants Ferrari to improve qualifying results in the season – Formula 1 news
Stefano Domenicali wants Ferrari to improve its qualifying pace.
Domenicali wants Ferrari to work hard to keep a hold on Fernando Alonso’s lead in the drivers’ championship.  Alonso’s third place at Monaco moved him in the lead and due to an improved F2012 the team can now look to compete for the titles of the season.
The second place finish at the Spanish GP and the third place finish at Monaco is evidence enough that Ferrari means business. Even with a complex car before the update package Alonso was able to win the Malaysian Grand Prix. Other competitors must be now
worried what Alonso will be capable of.
Sebastian Vettel started the race at Monaco fighting to keep his nose ahead of everyone else especially Alonso who was tied at first place with the German. Vettel has now moved to second which means The Canadian GP will be crucial for both the drivers.
“Expected or unexpected it's the position, he's there, and that's a fact,” Domenicali said. “It's a fact that this championship is very difficult to understand in terms of the complexity of the situation. For sure in terms of the pure performance of the
car we had a very difficult start, but for sure on the other hand we had a situation where we are not happy because we want to improve the car.”
He said that the team has seen the cars at the grid at the moment and they have had pole positions. Ferrari is looking of pole positions as well. It is going to give the team that push to go for the wins in the season. The performance package of the car
is working really good and it is not imperative for the team to make sure that the team goes in the direction of making sure that the team hits more pole positions in the races to come.
“On the other side I'm happy that we are leading, with such a championship we need to make sure that we don't lose points because if you lose points they are very heavy and there are so many drivers and competitors that are fighting for the win that you
have to be always there,” he added.
