Steffen Deibler and Sina Sutter win 50m butterfly titles: German World Championship Trials - Day 4
Day four of the German World Championship Trials witnessed two German swimmers, Steffen Deibler and Sina Sutter on song in the Men’s 50m and Women’s 50m butterfly swimming events respectively, in Berlin, Germany, on June 3.
Firstly, Steffen Deibler won the Men’s 50m butterfly final with a sterling time of 23.47 seconds and also improved to 5th place in the world rankings. On the other hand, Hannes Heyl snared silver medal with a time of 23.57 seconds for 6th
in the world rankings, while Philip Heintz finished for bronze title in a time of 24.13 seconds.
In the Women’s 50m butterfly final meet, Sina Sutter claimed the gold medal with a winning time of 26.81 seconds. Meanwhile, Iris Rosenberger earned silver medal in 27.30 seconds and Paulina Schmeidel captured bronze in a time of 27.36 seconds.
The Men’s 200m Individual Medley final was won by Markus Deibler with a fastest time of 1 minute and 58.67 seconds. The effort moved him to the 5th place in the international rankings. Jan David Schepers settled for silver in 1 minute and 59.03
seconds, while Morten Ahme earned bronze medal in a time of 2 minutes and 04.67 seconds.
Meanwhile, the Women’s 200m Individual Medley crown was clinched by Theresa Michalak with a winning time of 2 minutes and 13.32 seconds. Placed second in the 200m IM final was Alexandra Wenk with a time of 2 minutes and 15.28 seconds, while Katharina Schiller
earned third place honours in 2 minutes and 15.87 seconds.
The Men’s 400m free-relay final saw Frankfurt’s swimmers including Martin Kutscher, Jan-Philip Glania, Stefano Razeto and Marco Di Carli win the gold medal with a sterling time of 3 minutes and 20.29 seconds. Placed second in the corresponding meet was Bayer
Wup with a time of 2 minutes and 22.83 seconds, while Essen wound up third in a time of 3 minutes and 26.98 seconds.
Last, but not the least, the Women’s 400m free-relay final was nabbed by Dortmund with a distinctive time of 3 minutes and 49.67 seconds, while Essen was placed second in 3 minutes and 52.45 seconds. Leipzig earned third place honours in 3 minutes and 52.89
seconds.
All swimmers gave their best performances in the corresponding events and took a huge round of applause from the sold-out Berlin crowd at the end on day four of the German World Championship Trials.
