Steffen Freund: http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lukas-Podolski-c22896 is best suited for Tottenham Hotspur role – Bundesliga news
Former Germany international, Steffen Freund, has urged Tottenham Hotspur to strike a bid for 1. FC Koln player, Lukas Podolski. Freund, who himself was once a Spurs player in 1998, believes that his countryman could be a huge hit in England, and should
enable the North London side to challenge for a place in next season’s UEFA Champions League.
Freund mentioned that Spurs are lacking a top class striker and Podolski can play anywhere on the pitch. He wanted the officials to consider signing his fellow German from FC Koln during the ongoing summer transfer window. Podolski also agreed with Freund,
saying that he totally respects his current club but could prosper further while playing for any top European side, either in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011.
Podolski was also amongst a few shining stars for Germany during the 2010 FIFA World Cup and scored a goal in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904’s thumping win over England during the competition. The versatile player was amongst the goals during the 2010/11 Bundesliga, scoring 13
times from 32 appearances.
The 41-year-old Freund further told that former Bayern Munich player had always been hungry for goals throughout his career, which is perhaps what Spurs are missing up front. He claimed that Podolski could be the best replacement for Robbie Keane, who is
very likely to leave the club during the summer transfer window.
Freund added, “Lukas Podolski can score goals all the time and his finishes are fantastic. He doesn’t just score one fantastic goal – in the last five or six years he’s scored 10 fantastic goals that you remember all the time here in Germany. He has the
quality and I think Tottenham’s style of football suits him. Technically he’s a fantastic player and he has a great left foot. If Bale leaves Tottenham in the summer, or http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robbie-Keane-c31215 goes, then Podolski would be really good for Spurs.”
The 26-year-old Podolski joined FC Koln in 2009 and has managed 59 Bundesliga appearances to go along with his 15 goals. He also has 89 international caps for his country, amassing 42 goals in the process.
