The Dutch international was linked with a move to Stadio Olimpico Rome for the past few months and after a lot of hurdles, he has finally agreed a four year deal. The move was initially delayed due to disagreement over the transfer fee and after weeks of negotiations, the two teams reached a deadlock on a fee in the region of 8-million-Euros.
After agreeing the fee, Ajax were not satisfied with the guarantees over the transfer payments and rejected to approve the move. The Giallorossi raised the concerns of Dutch outfit by providing them with adequate security over the fee.
The shot-stopper is relieved to complete the dream move and is excited to join an ambitious club like http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603. Stekelenburg revealed that he had a conversation with Luis Enrique and is really impressed with his plans for the club.
Talking to the reporters Stekelenburg said, "I am proud that I will sign a four-year deal with Roma. Everything about this club says football. I haven't had time to visit the stadium yet, but I'm impressed with the training facilities,"
"I also spoke with [head coach] Luis Enrique about his plans with the club and that was a very pleasant conversation. He also hopes that the clubs will soon reach an agreement, because this has all been taking too much time already."

Stekelenburg started his playing career from Ajax’s youth setup and made his professional debut in 2002. He went onto make 282 appearances for the Amsterdammers in his 9 year stay at the club. The 28-year-old has established himself as the first choice goalkeeper in the Dutch squad since the retirement of Edwin Van Der Sar. He has made 40 international appearances for the Dutch team thus far.
