Stem cells... what do you think.?

you hear about all the potential it has.

from regenerating organs to curing certain cancers.

but for that you need to "kill a fetus" that's what they'll always say.

aside form a vaguely religious stand point

that's not true and this is why.

in the first few days following fertilization

it is human yes no doubt about it.

but alive no.

a fetus is not alive before 5 to 6 weeks of gestation.

i.e when it starts to have it's own heart beat.

anything before that is not. it cannot feel any pain

no more than any other organ inside the mothers body.

it doesn't feel the pain the mother does. until it has it's own heart beat

but unfortunately most people are still dead set against stem cells on the basis of killing. when it's actually nowhere near a living thing in those early stages they're extracted at.

think of all the people that can be saved thrue the use of stem cells.

and then compare it to today's vague anti abortion concept.which needs to be revised.

hay don't get me wrong here.

i am against abortion. but it's no where near a living thing in that early stage.

and to answer you're question yes

i would gladly donate my "fertilized eggs "for that purpose.

if there is no risk on my ability to conceive because of that in the future

i know it's long and if you gotten to this line thank's for taking the time.

  1. Because regardless how hard left scientists try, there is still more promise in adult stem cells than embrionic stem cells.

  2. I think stem cells from aborted babys are just an attempt by liberals to justify abortion by providing some good aspect from it, scientist have grown stem cells from skin cells and don't need fetal stem cells.

  3. I agree - almost. Can you cite where you found this statement? "anything before that is not. it cannot feel any pain

no more than any other organ inside the mothers body.

it doesn't feel the pain the mother does. until it has it's own heart beat."

I agree that no pain is felt by an embryo, but not with the heartbeat portion.

But that's not relevant. Pain isn't the showstopper for the religious ones.

In any event...current medical practice also uses cord blood from the trimmed portion of newborn umbilical cords with good results.

  4. As it stands, we are throwing away whatever contribution any aborted fetus might have made to mankind.

I take neither stand on abortion - but throwing it all away (when it could have dramatic implications for mankind) is just plain stupid (not to mention the arrogance of imposing your will on others).

In our neighborhood, we have a family who have two small children dying of a rare genetic disease. The oldest is in China as we speak, for stem cell therapy that has given her a dramatic improvement in health.  They had to get around unbelievable obstacles to get her there, because too many people tried to interfere with her health because of the stem cell therapy!

I personally believes that all knowledge comes from God - even knowledge we don't like.

  5. I read it all. I agree with you 100%. Stem cell research and actual application is the way to go. ☼

  6. It's a good thing.

  7. Most people are ignorant on the stem cell topic.  We have stem cell research going on right now.  It's legal to do any kind of stem cell research you want.  The US government is even funding stem cell research.  The only thing we are not funding is embryonic stem cell research due to the source the stem cells are harvested from.  The good news is that embryonic stem cell research to date has been pretty much a bust.
