Okay, so this is the deal. My husband who is in the Army would like to adopt my 2 eldest sons (ages: 6 yrs, and 4 1/2 yrs old). The Biological father lives in Oklahoma I live in Fl. no paternity was established other than on the first child's birth cert. he signed a paternity acknowledgment form, in addition to signing the birth cert. The Bio father has not been active in the children's lives at all there has been NO financial support or basic contact up until 2 weeks ago. I tracked him down to find out whether he would be willing to terminate his parental rights if he even has any..... and he agreed to it. What the heck is the next course of action? I dont have a lawyer and my husband received orders to ship to Germany in the next 2-3 months soooo can the process still get completed there?

  1. You need a lawyer. Call one today.

  2. your husband will need to sign papers, i know that. please think this thru carefully....my x husband adopted my daughter and then we divorced...so from experience...think about it first

  3. Use the military attorney that is available to you.  Then he can work in conjunction with the military attorney in Germany in the event that it takes longer than a couple of months.  IF this guy is willing, strike while the iron is hot!
