We have two foster children that are half siblings. Their mom is expecting again and we may be asked to take the baby. If you were a child in this situation growing up would it be important to you to have your half siblings with you?

It seems like it would be important but perhaps because this is a sibling that isn't even born yet perhaps we should allow a family looking for a newborn to take the baby.

There is a strong possibility that the birth mother will lose parental rights and all children would be adopted. We will adopt the children we have now and the infant would be up for adoption too.

Please ask questions if this doesn't make sense.

  1. It is so important for siblings to stay together!  Have you went to any sibling bond training?  I did and was amazed at how it affects siblings later in life to be split as even infants.  I am very pro-sibling groups.  We adopted a large sibling group and still stay in contact with their birth mother, who has had 2 more babies since adoption.
