Radek Stepanek has a pretty good record at San Jose, winning in 2009 after reaching the 2008 final. But can the Czech defend his 2009 title this year?

If it’s an Andy Roddick versus Stepanek final, then you’d have to say a title defence might be a tough ask – the American already spoiled that party for Stepanek in the Brisbane final during January. But if Roddick falls earlier in the tournament, Stepanek’s chances of a title defence increase quite a bit.
