Stephane Robert leads against Peter Luczak in the second round – Poznan Porsche Open 2011 CH
French Stephane Robert put up a solid display of tennis while leading against Australian Peter Luczak in the second round of the Poznan Porsche Open 2011, an ATP Challenger Tour event held on the clay courts in Poznan, Poland.
He was leading 6-2, 3-2 against the Aussie when the match got suspended due to rain on Thursday.
Ranked 108th in the South African Airways ATP World Tour rankings, Robert outmuscled the Aussie completely on their first meeting. Luczak, who is ranked 135 places below him, stood no chance against the Frenchman and
after the match got suspended when the first set ended, he continued his poor form in the second set and was trailing at the game point at 2-3 when the match got suspended again.
31-year-old Frenchman displayed exceptional skills in the first set and made quick in-roads after breaking Aussie’s serve twice. He saved all three breakpoints faced through his amazing defensive skills and cashed in both breakpoint
opportunities to his advantage to seal the opener with a 6-2 score line in twenty-six minutes.
Robert got the desiderated break in the very first game and later held on to his entire serves through backhand slices from his box of tricks. The Frenchman found the second breakpoint chance in the end which he duly converted
to his advantage to clinch with this brilliant score line. He also clobbered a better first serve share of 55 percent as compared to Luczak’s 42 percent and registered a magnificent 92 percent win on it.
The Montargis native kept momentum rolling into the second set. He held his opening serve in the second game and got the coveted break in the proceeding game to take the lead. He kept his following serve and was leading 3-2 and
game point when the match got suspended again.
The winner will next face a winner between two Frenchmen, fourth seed Eric Prodon or Augustin Gensse. Robert is most likely to advance due to his experience and angled shots which are perfectly hitting on the line.
