Sunderland midfielder Stephane Sessegnon has credited the Black Cats success in recent games to the re-emergence of confidence amongst the team.
While Sunderland were struggling under manager Steve Bruce, who was sacked in November, the Black Cats have seen a revival under new manager Martin O’Neill. Under the Northern Irish manager, Sunderland have secured 16 points from a possible 24.
They now find themselves at tenth place on the Premier League table, a comfortable top half of the table position. Their recent win over Swansea City ensured they climbed to the top half of the table and could breathe a sigh of relief as they were no longer
contenders in the relegation battle.
It was Sessegnon who opened the scoring for the Black Cats, with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Benin-c2852 international revealed there was now a lot of confidence in the team because of which they had been
able to return to winning ways.
The 27-year-old hailed the goal from Gardner which ensured a comfortable win for the Black Cats and revealed he could not boast much about his goals since the last few goals for Sunderland had been fantastic. He mentioned http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sebastian-Larsson-c32733 and Gardner especially
for their superb goals.
Sessegnon said while speaking to reporters:
“There is a lot of confidence in the team at the moment, which is why we are trying shots like that.
It was a super strike from Craig because it made sure that we won the game. I can't shout about my goal too much because both goals were really good.”
“There have been some really good goals recently. Seb Larsson has scored a few and Craig's against Swansea, so I don't know where mine ranks.
The ball arrived and I took the chance to have a shot. I should have had a second in the second half with my head when it went just wide.”
As for his own goal in the 14th minute, Sessegnon believed he had been at the right place at the right time. However, he was disappointed with the fact that he had not been able to score another goal in the second half, with his effort heading
wide.
