Stephanie Chen grabs Girls 500yard freestyle title – High School State Championships, San Francisco
Stephanie Chen of LOW grabbed the title of Girls 500yard freestyle in Junior category at the 2012 High School State Championships in San Francisco, California on Tuesday, May 1.
With her amazing efforts, Chen stayed prominent for the title of the event and sprinted her way towards the finishing end for gold medal.
Chen remained in a lead of more than three body lengths over her strongest competitor and tapped the wall for gold medal by reporting a time of 6 minutes and 29.06 seconds.
She was trailed by her teammate, Sally Tan, who stayed nearly five seconds apart and tapped the wall for silver medal by producing a time of 6 minutes and 34.28 seconds.
The second position holder was chased by Erica Happe of BAL, who clinched bronze medal of the event by reporting a time of 6 minutes and 55.51 seconds.
Happe was trailed by Amanda Li of LINC, who remained nearly three seconds slower from overwhelming the bronze medallist and settled on the finishing blockade as fourth position holder by clocking a time of 6 minutes and 58.39 seconds.
Similarly, Carolyn Yao of LOW snared fifth best spot of the event as she clocked a time of 7 minutes and 18.12 seconds.
Afterwards, Kevin Sun of LINC accomplished gold medal of the equivalent event in Boys category. Sun devastated hopes of his opponents by achieving gold medal of the event with the timing of 6 minutes and 12.40 seconds.
He remained 0.88 seconds ahead of his team-member, Dylan Tang, who finished second in the race by submitting a time of 6 minutes and 13.28 seconds.
Bronze medal of the event was secured by George Freedland of LOW, who stayed nearly sixteen seconds slower and tapped the wall with an effort of 6 minutes and 29.69 seconds.
The third position holder was followed by Ronald Liu, who ended his swim in a time of 6 minutes and 54.51 seconds for fourth position of the event.
In addition, the tournament ended after the conclusion of all planned events whereas the arena acknowledged forceful struggles of all participants in their races.
