Stephanie Peacock of Swim Florida clinched gold medal of the Women’s 800m freestyle on first day of the 2012 US Open Swimming Championships at Indiana University Natatorium in Indianapolis on Tuesday, August 7.

She showered her expertise in the distant freestyle discipline and touched the wall with a timing of 8 minutes and 24.36 seconds for gold medal.
The champion was followed by Ashley Steenvoorden of Minnesota Aquatics, who stayed almost seven seconds behind and transpired on the finishing wall as silver medallist by producing a time of 8 minutes and 33.41 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Ashley Twichell of Mission Viejo Nadadores, who stayed 1.15 seconds behind and occupied bronze medal of the discipline by reporting a time of 8 minutes and 34.56 seconds.
Twichell was followed by Sarah Henry of Aggie Swim Club, who stayed nearly four seconds apart and finished fourth in the race by clocking a time of 8 minutes and 38.46 seconds.
Subsequently, Henry was followed by Tristin Baxter of Clovis Swim Club, who was one and a half body length behind and finished fifth in the race by reporting a time of 8 minutes and 39.70 seconds.

The 17-year-old Morris was chased by Megan Rankin of Golden West Swim Club, who stayed nearly 0.70 seconds apart and touched the wall with a timing of 8 minutes and 41.48 seconds for seventh position.
Rankin was followed by Chelsea Chenault of Terrapins Swim Team, who was two and a half body length behind and posted a time of 8 minutes and 43.80 seconds.
