Stephanie Proud acquires Women’s 100m backstroke gold – 2012 GSC Summer Invitational
Stephanie M Proud of GSC-FL acquired gold medal of the Women’s 100m backstroke on final day of the 2012 Gator Swim Club Summer Invitational in Gainesville, Florida on Tuesday June 5.
The 23-year-old Proud met expectations of her supporters by overpowering her challengers and proving her eligibility for gold medal of the discipline. With her astonishing pace, she faced no trouble in keeping her rivals at a comfortable bay and reached
the finishing end for gold medal.
She remained more than a body length ahead of her following swimmer and hit the finishing end with the timing of 1 minute and 02.15 seconds.
Her title-claiming effort remained 1.69 seconds faster from Maddie M Hess of BSAC-FL, who stepped on the medal rostrum for silver medal by submitting a time of 1 minute and 03.84 seconds.
Similarly, Hess remained 0.98 seconds faster from Ashlee N Linn of SYS-FL, who accomplished bronze medal of the 100m event by reporting a time of 1 minute and 04.82 seconds.
The third position holder was chased by McKenna V DeBever of BSS-FL, who stayed nearly half body length slower from upsetting her foregoing finisher and settled on the finishing end with the timing of 1 minute and 05.35 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the event was obtained by Alyssa M Yambor-Maul of ATAC-FL, who also remained full body length apart and hit the finishing blockade with an effort of 1 minute and 06.71 seconds.
The 17-year-old Yambor-Maul was chased by Ellese Zalewski of CPC-FL, who remained just 0.44 seconds slower from her preceding swimmer and tapped the wall with an effort 1 minute and 07.15 seconds.
Seventh position of the discipline was secured by Elise M Haan of T2-FL, who stayed 0.80 seconds apart and ended her race in a time of 1 minute and 07.95 seconds.
Subsequently, Tasija A Karosas of SAS-FG was disqualified from the race due to the false start and was allotted no position.
The audience appreciated commendable efforts of all participants in the 100m discipline while the position holders received awards and accolades for their notable accomplishments at the medal ceremony of the session.
