Stephen Curran claims Flemenstar recovering quickly – Horseracing News
Owner Stephen Curran has said that Flemenstar is recovering speedily and will be seen in action pretty soon.
The Irish star has got a terrific record and was seen as one of the best in the business. He took on some quality rivals in major competitions and overcame them comfortably, when he was fully fit. However, things have not been
working well for him in recent times, as he has not been able to win races.
Due to this, horseracing fans thought that the quality performer had lost his ability to do well in bigger events and it was time he retired to the stud life.
Curran disagreed with the critics and revealed, “He was never right after Christmas. He couldn’t do himself justice at all. His temperature was reaching highs of 102. The mucus coming out of him after Aintree was unreal and he
swelled up everywhere, especially around his neck. Our vet Paddy Kelly had to spend 12 days constantly with him.”
The star owner went onto say, “He’s had a small wind operation too, but I think his wind was affecting him only in the last 100 yards or so of his races. He was just a sick horse. He looks fantastic and you won’t see the best of
Flemenstar until this season, mark my words.”
On the other hand trainer Peter Casey was also confident that Flemenstar will be back in action pretty soon and he would not make life easy for his rivals. He went onto reveal the future plans, saying that his challenger is all
set to appear at Cavan, Punchestown and Leopardstown at Christmas this year.
Since making his debut in the sport, Flemenstar has been delivering some tremendous results for his camp. There have only been a couple of occasions, when he dropped out of the top-three in his career. Even when he was struggling
with fitness, he did manage to give a tough time to his opponents.
However, the eight-year-old gelding has not managed to win any race this season. He has appeared in a couple of them, but failed to meet the expectations of the punters. It will be interesting to see how he goes after becoming
fully fit.
