Stephen Curry and David Lee carry Golden State Warriors to a 104-96 win over Charlotte Bobcats: NBA Recap
Stephen Curry seemed comfortable back in North Carolina as he scored 27 points to lead the Golden State Warriors to a 104-96 win over the Charlotte Bobcats on Monday night, their fourth straight win.
"He's playing with a lot of confidence right now and he's very healthy right now. We just love having him on the team. We have the best chemistry of any team in the NBA. We have great character on this team and that's why we're
doing as well as we are. We're not the most talented team in the league, but we're one of the hardest working and that's why we've been so successful." Golden State forward David Lee commented on Curry.
Lee himself had a big night as he posted a double-double with 25 points and 11 rebounds for the night while Carl Landry came off the bench to add 16 points.
Kemba Walker paced the sluggish Bobcats with 24 points and 6 assists, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist collected 17 points and 7 rebounds and Byron Mullens finished off with 13 points on the night.
The score was all square on 2, the only time the score was tied in the game, after which the Warriors took the lead and never looked back. Golden State started the proceedings with a 7-0 run to go up 7-2. Jeff Taylor made a jump
shot to make it 7-9 for the Bobcats but the Warriors were in relentless mood as they raced ahead and were up 22-11 in no time. They kept pulling ahead and extended their lead to 38-23 by the end of the period.
Charles Jenkins made two back to back deuces in the early going of the second period to put GSW up 44-29. The Bobcats could not find an answer to their onslaught as a Lee layup pushed the visitors up to 50-31. Golden State were
enjoying a solid 18 points lead at halftime.
The third quarter was huge with a total of 69 points being scored in the period. Walker wasted little time to drop down a three pointer and sank another one moments later to reduce the deficit down to 46-60. However, Curry and
company kept scoring baskets to maintain a sufficient distance. Curry scored 7 straight points for the Warriors to put them up 70-56, and a 6 point run at the close of the period had them leading by 93-74.
The Bobcats outscored the Warriors by 11 in 4th, but it was too little too late as the damage had already been done. Charlotte cut the deficit down to 8 deep and it was the closest they got as the Warriors went on to
win 104-96.
