Stephen Curry helps Golden State Warriors rise above Denver Nuggets 109 – 101 – NBA Recap
The Golden State Warriors picked up another win on the road when they beat the Denver Nuggets 109 – 101 on Thursday. The game at the Pepsi Center was an entertaining one but the home support ultimately left unsatisfied as their team lost out, with Stephen
Curry the villain.
Warriors point guard Curry, whose season has been hampered so far because of injury among other issues, turned in a stupendous performance to lead Golden State to victory. Curry produced an all round display with game high 36 points, 7 rebounds and 7 dimes.
Helping him along the way were the likes of Monta Ellis, 14 points, David Lee, 12 points, and Dorell Wright, 15 points. Klay Thompson also came off the bench to make a big impact, netting 19 points.
The Denver Nuggets were led by shooting guard Arron Afflalo, who scored a team high 26 points. Ty Lawson pulled the strings for the home side, as evidenced by his 10 assists and 11 points. Other players that made it into double figures included Nene and
Al Harrington.
The game started off evenly and with over 4 minutes played the scores were level at 11 – 11. The rest of the first quarter followed in the same vein as neither team was able to pull away. They went into the second period with the game finely poised at 28
– 27, Denver ahead.
The Golden State Warriors looked like picking up some steam, and began the next quarter with a 12 – 3 run that put them in control at 39 – 31. The Nuggets though immediately responded with a 9 – 0 spurt that restored their advantage. After more brief skirmishes,
the first half ended with the home side on top at 51 – 47.
The third period proved decisive. Golden State came out of the interval all guns blazing and opened with a 14 – 2 burst to take the lead. They continued to pound the Nuggets as the segment continued and piled on a total of 37 points before the clock ran
out. In comparison, Denver only managed 20 and were staring at an 84 – 71 deficit going into the penultimate period.
The home side gave a good account of themselves in the 4th, especially on the offensive end where they netted 30 points. The Warriors however did a professional job and kept on scoring, keeping the Nuggets at an arm’s length throughout. They thus
won comfortably in the end, 109 – 101.
