Stephen Curry hurts his ankle at Impact Basketball Series, says it’s “perfectly fine”: NBA Update
Injuries are a part of basketball, whether it is professional or at an amateur level.
That’s exactly what had happened on Thursday at the Impact Basketball Training Series, when the 23 year old point guard of the Golden State Warriors, Stephen Curry hurt himself.
Just after four minutes of play, Curry rolled his right ankle. It is the same right ankle that caused him lot of trouble at the end of the preceding season. However, Curry told that his ankle is “perfectly fine” and he does not
have to pull out of the league.
After the injury, Curry left the court immediately to receive treatment and then watched the game from the sidelines.
Commenting on why he regards this series important, Curry added, "I've had a schedule for my recovery of coming back and I've been doing some high-impact workouts and I just wanted to run up and down the court a little bit. I have
no limitations right now and am just pacing myself to get back to 100 percent."
The winner of the 2011 Skills Challenge Champion and NBA Sportsmanship Award had a surgery in May on the same ankle. Despite of a nagging injury, the young guard was able to enhance his numbers in the previous season, with an average
of 18.6 points together with 5.8 assists and 3.9 rebounds per game.
Because of the ankle injury Curry had missed the final eight games of the previous season. He spent most of the summer recovering from the surgery. After a rehabilitation period, he was recently cleared to play.
Curry is not the only Warrior taking part in the series organized by famed trainer Abu Nasser. There are nine other Warriors including draft pick Klay Thompson, power forward David Lee, Dorell Wright, Jeremy Lin, Charles Jenkins
and Ekpe Udoh.
This bunch was on the same squad called white team, while Lou Amundson was the only player from the Golden State, who on blue team’s roster.
