Stephen Curry stars as Golden State Warriors rout the Minnesota Timberwolves 100-77
Stephen Curry scored game-high 24 points, pulled down nine rebounds and dished out six assists as the Golden State Warriors clipped the Minnesota Timberwolves 100-77 on
Sunday night.
The victory also snapped the record 53-game double-double streak of Minnesota’s Kevin Love. The main hindrance in Kevin’s way on the night were the 27 turnovers committed
by the Wolves, as he was unable to get the ball at right time.
Timberwolves coach Kurt Rambis appreciated the previous record of Love and said that it will not take him time to regain his sizzling shooting touch back in the upcoming
events.
"It is extremely impressive. You just look at how long it has been, and you know he's a part of every opposing team's game plan. It is not like it has been easy for him.
It has been very, very difficult to get those numbers, night in and night out...That was an incredible run, but there's no reason to think that he's not going to start another one," Rambis stated.
Shooting guard Monta Ellis and Dorell Wright added 16 points each for the Warriors, who have now won three of their last four contest. Forward Lou Amundsen also came off
the bench with 11 points and seven rebounds in the victory.
For the Timberwolves, Michael Beasley and Martell Webster added 16 points apiece to lead the way. Luke Ridnour contributed 13 points, six assists, and four rebounds for
the Minnesota, who now lost the two consecutive games and six of their last ten.
Game Story
The Timberwolves raced to a 7-3 run to take control in the early minutes of the game. However, behind ten points from Curry, Golden State managed to take a 26-23 lead into
the second frame. The Warriors continued to play hard offense in the second quarter as well and outscored the Wolves 23-21, to take a 49-44 advantage at the half.
The Warriors then let it really rip in the third quarter as they opened with a 13-2 run. With six minutes to go in the period, the Warriors had already sprinted to a 62-46
lead. Their offensive dominance continued throughout the frame. Warriors outscored the Wolves 26-15 and took a commanding 75-59 lead into the final stanza.
Trailing by 16 points after three quarters, the Minnesota bench tried to spark a comeback in the closing minutes but the Warrior’s momentous lead was a bit too much to overcome.
