Chennai Super Kings' coach, Stephen Fleming, was disappointed with how his side left and held the bowlers responsible for the early exit from the tournament.
The defending champions needed a big win in order to qualify for the semi-finals; however, this could not happen as a defiant knock from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DA-Warner-c1301, ensured that his side progresses at the expense of Chennai.
Warner hit the first century of this year’s tournament, remaining unbeaten with a whopping 135 from 69 balls, an innings which included 11 fours and 8 humongous strikes for maximum.
With the NSW posting a healthy 201, it meant that Super Kings needed to chase down the target in 17 overs in order to make it to the semis. It was an uphill task and the coach admitted that his bowler’s inability to control the left-hander eventually made
it impossible to pursue such a big total.
“We've been disappointing this season - in particular, today. As well as [David] Warner played, we were well off the mark with the ball, which placed a lot of pressure on our batting. The first 20 overs was the most disappointing aspect [of our game],”said
Fleming.
The charge was made difficult with the injury suffered by all-rounder http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KMDN-Kulasekara-c1802. The coach however, felt that it was the conditions that upset the rhythm of the team rather
than injury sustained by their overseas star.
“We're pretty good at adjusting. ….We were comfortable with what [Nuwan] Kulasekara could bring [to the team]. …The change in wicket was a massive influence. We were expecting to play the same style of cricket we'd done for the last three years. I certainly
didn't know about the wicket change, neither did the team,” said Fleming.
