Stephen Fleming not interested in New Zealand coaching job – Cricket News Update
Former New Zealand captain and the current coach of IPL franchise, Chennai Super Kings, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Stephen-Paul-Fleming-c91190, on Monday played down the possibility of becoming New Zealand coach, after John Wright’s term ends in August this year.
Citing family commitments as a reason behind not accepting the offer, the 39-year-old former Black Caps’ skipper said that he has got a young family and it is not possible for him to meet the travelling demands of an international coach.
"The timing really is the main point for me, I'm not quite ready to get back onto that roundabout of international cricket," said the former New Zealand batsman in an interview to New Zealand's Live Sport radio on Monday.
"I've got a young family that I love spending time with and while I do care deeply about the New Zealand side and the direction they're going, the timing's just not right for me to jump back into that touring lifestyle," he added further.
The current New Zealand coach John Wright’s term is due to end in August this year and he has decided against extending the contract, citing differences with
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 in June/July. Since then the NZC has been looking for a fitting replacement for Wright.
Fleming, who has been coaching Super Kings since 2009, is also being considered as a potential candidate for the coveted position. But the former New Zealand skipper said that he enjoys the limited stints with Chennai as coach as it allows
him to stay in touch with the sport and pursue other business interests.
"I enjoy these two months (of the IPL) because it's my cricket fix and it's done and dusted, whereas with the national side you've got constant development and requirements with travel -- not dissimilar to when you're playing,” said Fleming.
Meanwhile, the chief executive of New Zealand Cricket,
David White, has revealed that the board will announce John Wright’s replacement by the end of July. There have also been reports that the national director of cricket, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/John-Marshall-Buchanan-c68302, wants different coaches for all the three formats
of the game.
