Team India is hunting for a new coach and the former Kiwi captain, Fleming, has been shortlisted as the most viable and powerful candidate.
There has been some news floating around in cricketing circles that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is pressing Fleming strongly to join the Indian team as a replacement for Gary Kirsten. However, the former Kiwi batsman, who is currently
coaching the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), is reported to have refused the offer because of his family and business commitments.
"I'm enjoying coaching Chennai Super Kings. I got my hands full at CSK. It is a good experience. I haven't thought a lot about my coaching career. It is something that I'll consider as time goes on," said Fleming.
Fleming, who led the Black Caps for almost a decade, holds great repute in international cricket. Before quitting international cricket, he had played 111 Tests and 280 ODIs with an excellent track record.
After his retirement, he was offered a coaching job for the Kiwis but he refused by saying that he wanted to give time to his family. Later on, Fleming joined the coach-ship of Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led CSK outfit. Under Fleming’s judicious command, the

Fleming has said that he is quite happy with his current life and still does not have any plan to coach internationally. Fleming further stated that even though he has been enjoying his time with CSK, there is still a lot for him to learn as a coach.
