Stephen Hendry beats Stuart Bingham to book John Higgins clash in 2012 World Snooker Championship
Former seven-time World Snooker Championship winner, Scotland’s Stephen Hendry had a blast in the opening round of the 2012 World Snooker Championship against the 2011 Australian Goldfields Open winner, England’s Stuart Bingham. With this victory against
the Englishman, Hendry has made his way successfully into the second round of the contest where he will be facing the defending Champion John Higgins.
The first round match-up between Hendry and Bingham was totally one sided as the former Champion cruised into an 8-1 lead in no time after two sessions of the match. Bingham was under immense pressure and he was unable to move up in the score line and tumbled
down by 10-4. Hendry also compiled his 11th maximum 147 break during his run in the game.
Besides, the legendary potter also fired some outstanding knocks to hit the lead. On the other hand, from 8-1 down, Bingham fired a couple of half century knocks of 52 and 53 to move within three frames up at 9-4. After that the Scotsman clinched 14th
frame to win the game by the score line of 10-4. The contest was an easy win for the Ice Man as he took the match easily.
While speaking to World Snooker after his match, Hendry said, “8-1 is a tough lead, it's hard to get yourself up and have the same intensity as you had at the start of the match. I was pretty flat tonight and I think it showed with some of the balls I was
missing by sometimes embarrassing lengths, but I finished it off well.”
The 43-year-old added, “The frame before the interval was important and then I made a nice break in the last frame. I think you learn from mistakes you make and you react differently to things.”
The Golden Brain has set up second round clash with the defending snooker Champion, compatriot John Higgins. The match-up between the two legends will be thrilling game to watch and the snooker fans must be waiting to see them in action. It will be interesting
to see how Hendry puts in a good performance and battles it out against Higgins.
