Stephen Hendry believes John Higgins can break his record: 2012 World Snooker Championship
Former seven-time World Snooker Champion from Scotland, Stephen Hendry, who recently announced his retirement from World Snooker, will be heading to China where he will coach the Chinese potters.
The veteran is the most successful player in the circuit so far as no other cueman has reached his level. The Golden Brain has ruled over the game for 27 years and still is the top potter across the globe despite his retirement.
However, the Golden Boy himself believes that the former four-time World Snooker Champion, John Higgins is the only person who can break his record of seven world titles because the Wizard of Wishaw has the spark to cruise into tremendous success. Hendry
has played against Higgins many times during his career and knows about his playing style and abilities very well.
While speaking to the media about Higgins, Hendry said, “The way things are at the moment, John is one who could get to that mark of seven titles, from four at the moment. He is easily good enough to win another two, three or four if he wants to. It will
be tough for anyone now, but records are there to be broken.”
The Great One added, “What made me stand apart? Nothing was ever enough for me in the 1990s. If I won a title, I was back on the practice table, almost like a machine, and all about winning. I was greedy, and wanted more and more and more.”
Last time they were together in the second round of the 2012 World Snooker Championship where the Ice Man was victorious by the score line of 13-4. After that the 43-year-old faced compatriot Stephen Maguire in the quarter-final stage and lost to him by
an easy score line of 2-13. After crashing out of the mega event, Hendry instantly announced his retirement in his post match interview.
Hendry’s retirement decision was so sudden that everyone in the snooker world was shocked but the veteran said that he made the decision three months ago. The Wonder Brain believes that quitting at this time was the right choice for him. The fans will surely
miss the dynamic style of Hendry from the snooker arena.
