Stephen Hendry decides against the 'Snooker’s most decorated career': Snooker News
The Scottish legend has vowed that he is going to play in the next coming season and moreover he said he is going to participate in all the tournaments.
The King of Crucible, Stephen Hendry, lost his battle this year in the second round to the world number four, Mark Selby, by a frame score of 13-4 in the 2011 Betfred.com World Snooker Championship, which
is being staged at the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield.
He said afterwards that he is going to retire from the game, but on the same note he also said he will make his final decision in the summer.
However his decision has come a lot quicker, as the Binginator, Stuart Bingham, lost in the second round to the Chinese top cueist, Ding Junhui, which means that the 42-year-old Scot is going be in the
last-16 place.
Stephen Hendry, who has the most decorated career in the history of snooker, said staying in the top 16, was his main concern, as he holds a record of staying in the top 16 since 1988.
It has also ensured him a place in the next ranking tournaments, as he would have been in the qualifying rounds otherwise.
"I still love playing the game. I want the chance to come back here," said the 42-year-old, who is back in Sheffield as a pundit and commentator. "I'm going to play all the tournaments. There's no point
being half-hearted."
"I don't put in the same amount of time as I did in the 1990s when I was dominating," he said. "Your life is different when you have a family and it can be pretty boring practising the same shot for six
hours a day.I still feel I have something to give."
This is going to be a huge relief for millions of his fans, as Hendry is still the greatest player of all times. He has won the World Championship seven-time apart from his various other ranking wins.
He also joint-holds a record with Ronnie O’Sullivan of making ten 147’s breaks and for all these unmatchable achievements he has earned himself prize money of £8.8 million.
