Stephen Hunt has come out after his team’s 4-0 win against Estonia in the first leg of their EURO 2012 qualification process and hit back at the critics of the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ukraine-c3032.
Hunt plays as a left sided winger for both club and country but unlike an orthodox winger his main trait is hard work which embodies other people in the team with an ethic which leads towards team spirit. That was exactly the case when Ireland took on Estonia on Friday night and fired four goals past the home team’s defence in a manner which surprised a few people.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Estonia-c2894 has come under pressure even after the match resulted in a win over his team due to his conservative tactics during the match where Ireland hit their opponents on the counter attack rather than opting to dominate the match as a whole. Hunt leapt to his manager’s defence as he said that when Ireland qualified for the FIFA World Cup some years back, their goalkeeper couldn’t even take the goal kick properly but now the Irish style has evolved despite the fact that they still play direct football by looking for their strikers on the first opportunity.
He said, "It can come across sometimes from the media that we don't have a fancy style of play, but we never had, we never, ever had. We had Liam Brady, who was talented, but apart from that, you tell me who has been Ronaldo or Messi in the last 20 years for Ireland? There is no-one been that good. [Jason] McAteer - good player works hard, but no Messi or Ronaldo. He talks like them, but no Messi or http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ronaldo-c31734."
Ireland’s win against Estonia in the first leg of their qualification play-off means that their job has been made easier for the second leg which will take place in Ireland on 15th of November, 2011. It will be interesting to see how the Irish play in the second leg as they will want to qualify at all costs by avoiding any sort of complacency in their approach to the encounter in question.
