Stephen Ireland to make his Newcastle United debut soon
Stephen Ireland, who is on loan at Newcastle United from Aston Villa, is hoping to return to full training as soon as in the last week of February 2011.
The Irish midfielder made a loan move to St. James Park on the deadline day of the January 2011 transfer window which will see him at the club until the end of the on-going 2010-11 season. The 24-year-old has still not made his debut for his new club due
to a knee injury.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Stephen-Ireland-c34149 was initially expected to return in the first week of March 2011, however, the Irish midfielder seems to be ahead of the given schedule.
The former Manchester City midfielder said, “We thought it would be a couple of weeks. But I went running outside [on Thursday] at a decent level and decent pace, and I reckon it could be by the end of next week hopefully. I've just got to do a few more
sessions and then see how far I can push it.”
Stephen Ireland, who was transferred to Villa Park from Manchester City in a deal which included James Milner’s transfer to Eastlands, was reportedly not happy at Aston Villa. There were some reports that the Irish international also had some rifts with
Aston Villa manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gerard-c14664 Houllier, which was also one of the reasons he was loaned out to Newcastle United.
The 24-year-old playmaker is not setting his sights on a specific match; however, he concedes that he is desperate to be back in action soon.
Ireland, who had failed to cement his place in the starting eleven at Manchester City and at Aston Villa, is now aiming to make a huge impact at St. James Park.
He added, “After two weeks at a club you want to be getting involved in the playing and training, but I'm not far away. I didn't come here just to get treatment - I came here to play. Thankfully things are getting right now and I'm almost there.”
