Stephen Jackson, NBA, Emotional Outbursts And Technical Fouls
Stephen Jackson has no idea whether the officials are targeting him unfairly or not. The player who is just three technical fouls away from one game suspension when asked about it, had nothing to offer: neither an apology nor an explanation.
Jackson has recently been constantly accused for his emotional outbursts during the games. Despite being the leading scorer of the Bobcats with an average of 18.8 per game, the player has little control over his emotions. The 32-year-old recently accomplished his 13 technical fouls of the season. Just three more technical fouls and that will cost him a surprise one-game suspension.
The story is not very new. The player has already let go of almost $180,000 for a variety of issues. He has already been suspended once for a game without any payment, and has been charged $50,000 for belittling the officials.
The Charlotte Bobcats have just a gap of five games in between the All-Star break, that happens on February 20, 2011. The guard was asked about how he felt to be floating on a technical foul-free oasis, for six days to which he responded as, “I can’t wait for the break. I know I need it. I’m going to go home and see my kids and my family, and be around people I know who love me and care about me and don’t judge me.”
This gives a hint that the ace is upset about the whole scenario. The player was ejected in the latest game with Boston Celtics due to complaining constantly. The player was moved out of the game, after the first half and received two straight technical fouls in the predicament.
Everybody is concerned about Jackson’s behavior problems. Paul Silas, Bobcats coach was quoted as saying, “Jack, he does have to change and I think he recognizes that now. He just can’t go after those guys. I know early on this year they said the whole system changed, as far as referee and what they were going to take.”
The coach also said that its not a matter of swearing or abusing the officials, but even if you talk to them in a berating manner that too is going to be counted as a technical foul. He was of the opinion that the same thing happened to Jackson on Monday night when he received two consecutive fouls.
It happened late in the first half. The Bobcats guard had started complaining about being fouled on opposition’s Kevin Garnett. The coach moved to bring Gerald Henderson to replace Jackson, who had received his first technical but the replacement could not be done in time. As the player had received his second one already.
The player rejected an explanation and had a wonderful answer to the questions being asked, “I’m just playing basketball.”
“I don’t know. We’ll see.” He added.
