Stephen Jackson could miss Bobcats’ season-opener

The Charlotte Bobcats will have to make some offensive adjustments when they open up their campaign in the 2010-11 NBA season after Stephen Jackson crashed to the floor during their final
practice for the season-opener.

Bobcats head coach Larry Brown was alarmed after seeing Jackson grimace in pain after the bad fall, and thought that their primary scoring option tore his Achilles tendon. However, team trainer
Steve Stricker said that Jackson only sustained a strained tendon in his left ankle.

"It's getting better now, nothing serious," Jackson insisted. "I'll be ready to go Wednesday."

The 32-year old hard-nosed guard was acquired by the Bobcats last season in exchange for Raja Bell and Vladimir Radmanovic. Jackson struggled to fit in Charlotte’s system, but when he finally
figured it out, he helped the Bobcats reached the playoffs for the first time in franchise history.

And now that he’ll be having his first full season with the Bobcats, he’s hoping that the chemistry they gained during the off-season will give them a better start as compared to the past
two seasons.

"Hopefully, us being together in camp and being able to grow in camp and know the plays and get on the same page on offense and defense will help us get off to a good start," Jackson said.

Team owner Michael Jordan believes that with Jackson and Gerald Wallace’s improved familiarity with each other, their team will have a better performance this year, despite losing Raymond
Felton and Tyson Chandler during the summer.

"I like where we're at," said Jordan, who’s also expecting that their team will reach the play-offs again. "Our two best players are the hardest-working guys on our team. In essence it's
going to allow us to get better as a team."

The Bobcats, which started the past two years with a 3-9 record, will kick off the season on Wednesday against the much-improved Dallas Mavericks, the only team that they have never defeated
in their seven-year stint in the NBA.
