Stephen Jackson fashions a Milwaukee Bucks win over San Antonio Spurs in a Bradley Centre thriller: NBA
Stephen Jackson erupted with 34 points and 8 assist, while Andrew Bogut, who returned after missing four games due to undisclosed personal reasons, scored a 14-11 double-double as the Milwaukee Bucks nipped a five game losing streak
by beating the San Antonio Spurs 106-103.
The Spurs were leading by 5 points, 88-83, early in the fourth quarter, but the Bucks rattled them with a 15-6 spurt to take a 102-95 lead and only 3:40 remaining on the clock.
DeJuan Blair made consecutive two's in the next minute to make it a three point game and Tim Duncan followed with two free throws, thirty seconds later. The Spurs had a chance to take the lead but Tony Parker missed a jumper. Brandon
Jennings, who ended the night with 15 points and a game-high 11 assists, made a two on the ensuing possession, but the gap was neutralized by a Kawhi Leonard jump shot.
Jennings missed a jumpshot, but made up for it by first stealing the ball from Parker and then going coast to coast for a dunk to put the Bucks at 106-103, only 50.9 left in the game.
Scott Skiles, the Bucks coach immediately called a time out and the period that followed was a scramble.
It all started with Duncan committing a foul and allowing a turnover on a jump ball, only to be followed by a turnover from Jackson. With 14.9 seconds remaining, the Spurs had a chance to draw the game, but Richard Jefferson missed
a three and the Bucks held on.
The loss continued the barren away run for the Spurs this season. They have won all the six home game so far, but Tuesday night marked their fourth defeat in as many games on the road. San Antonio had all their starters in double
scoring figures and were led by Parker with 22 points and 8 assists. He however also committed 7 of the team’s 16 turnovers.
Duncan had a huge night with 20 points, 8 boards and 7 dimes; Leonard had 19 on a 9-for-12 shooting; Jefferson chipped in with 12 while Blair and Gary Neal had 11 and 10 respectively.
The Spurs shot 60 percent of their shots from the floor, including only 4 of 14 from the three point range. They were also poor from the free throw line, going 9 of 16. The Bucks, who also got 18 points from Carlos Delfino, were
nearly 52 percent from the field, but made 9 three’s on 14 attempts and also netted 90 percent of their free throws.
