"Everybody should be shocked - $50,000?'' Stephen Jackson said. "If you all saw what happened, $50,000, that's a lot of money. But welcome to the life of Stephen Jackson.''
The 6ft 8” guard/forward for the Charlotte Bobcats was fined $50,000 by the NBA on account of an altercation with referee Steve Javie and his post-match actions, against the Detroit Pistons on Nov.5th.
It seems he didn’t learn from his mistakes as the league suspended him again for one game and that too without pay on Tuesday for berating referee Eli Roe and failing to leave the court in a timely manner following his ejection
from Saturday's 104-101 loss to Milwaukee.
When the NBA announced pre-season that it was serious in cracking down on players involved in misconduct with the officials they sent an exemplary video to all the teams with Stephen Jackson, flailing his arms, as the lead star.
He didn’t get any pointers though as he has already committed six technical fouls this season but is a joint league leader along with the Orlando Center Dwight Howard.
His volatility has cost him big this time though as he will have to endure a net financial loss of $103,000 based on his $8.45 million salary this season.
This does not bode well for the Charlotte Bobcats as well, as Jackson has been their key player scoring 18.1 points per game including at least 20 points in five of the last 10 games and the Bobcats season-high 30 points on Nov.
19th at Miami.
The Bobcats, already 6-11 in the season will be up against it against the New Orleans Hornets on Wednesday night without Jackson in their roster.
This action comes a day after he made an indirect reference to the league administrators, speaking to a group of reporters, about how he is being singled out and targeted.
"When things are not fair, I speak my mind," Jackson said. "I've never been a guy not to speak my mind and I guess people don't like that."
This is the second time within a month Jackson has been censured for verbally abusing the officials and he should definitely rein in his fiery attitude as the League is fast running out on patience with his antics.
