Stephen King novel Recommendation ?

Question

I've read 'Misery' and thought it was absolutely brilliant. I'm now intrigued to read more of his novels, but don't no where to begin (they all sound rather entertaining). Can anyone recommend any of their personal favourites to read next?

I really liked the whole 7 book Dark Tower series.

Book one is kinda short and will get you hooked on the series.

I've heard Bag of Bones is good, but haven't read it.

Everythings Eventual, which is short stories such as 1408. Either that or Cell which is brilliant!

My suggestion...is try the anthologies first. They are collections of his short stories...and that would give you a wide variety of the depth and range of King's genius....and once you detect what kind of stories you like...then you can better gage what kind of novels are similar.

For example...if in the anthology Four Past Midnight...you enjoyed the stories...Secret Window, Secret Garden & The Sun Dog...I would suggest the books The Dark Half and Needful Things to read.

     In the anthology Skeleton Crew...I suggest the stories The Mist, The Monkey, The Jaunt...and what I consider the perfect King short story...Mrs. Todd's Shortcut...and that's just to start you off..

     In the anthology Different Seasons...I suggest Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption (One story) and The Body. And in the anthology Night Shift...the stories "The Last Rung on the Ladder", "Quitters, Inc.", "Jerusalem's Lot" and the unforgettable short story...The Boogeyman.

    Since you really dug Misery I suggest Dolores Claiborne, Storm of the Century and Bag of bones.

    Also check out his stories under the Richard Bachman pseudonym.....The Long Walk and The Running Man.

I loved Cell, and I thought that Cujo, Christine, Carrie, The Mist, Salem's Lot, and Pet Sematary were great. Alot of people say that Pet Sematary and Carrie were distasteful. It depends on what kind of books you like.

Pet Sematary is full of theories about the afterlife, so if you're relgious to a certain degree, you will find it disgusting.

Carrie was similiar to Misery. A little gore, but mostly a psychological thriller. Great stuff. The Tommyknockers was okay, but really long. I was bored through the beginning.

IT (the book called It) was stupid, too much filler.....

'Salem's Lot!

It's one of his earlier novels, and it's about evil vampires...Bwahaha!!!!

Seriously, I couldn't put it down. It's an amazing book.
