Stephen Lee credits Barry Hearn for his good performance in current season – Snooker News
Current snooker season is about to end with the finish of the 2012 World Snooker Championship at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield. The recent snooker season has featured quite interesting snooker tournaments and has introduced many new faces as Champions
in some certain ranking events. On the other hand, it has also polished a couple of major names in the past couple of snooker events.
Winner of the 2011-12 Players Tour Championship (PTC) Grand Finals, England’s Stephen Lee is also one of the most successful finishers of the current season. The English potter played impressively throughout the season and proved his class to the world.
Despite the fact that he was not able to win many snooker tournaments, Lee still played convincingly reaching the advance stages of many major ranking events which did not only improved his rankings but also his game play.
The 37-year-old English potter believes his performance has improved because of the increased number of snooker events this year. He credited the World Snooker Chairman, Barry Hearn, who is the master mind behind the idea of increasing the number of snooker
events in a season. Lee reckoned that Hearn gave him the chances to polish his skills and get back into business.
While speaking to On Cue during his interview, Lee said, “I've had some great results with a win, another final, two semi-finals and a quarter-final in the last five ranking events. I didn't really see it coming. I'm enjoying playing and it's all down to
Barry Hearn. He's given me a chance to turn it around and it's been a big part of my life.”
The Englishman added, “It's great that my kids can now see my playing as a snooker player rather than just a part-timer.”
Lee is now all set to face his opponent in the first round of the 2012 World Snooker Championship at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield. He is fully confident to handle the pressure in the arena and thinks he can perform well in the mega event. His form in
the 2011-12 PTC Grand Finals has given him a great boost to play up to the mark in the tournament.
