Stephen Lee feels great to get back into Top 16: 2012 World Snooker Championship
Getting into the World’s Top 16 is a dream of every potter as it makes sure that the cueman does not have to play the qualifiers and will be placed in the first round of every major ranking snooker tournament.
It also shows that the potter is in good shape and has performed well in the season. Hitting the Top 16 was quite difficult when the sport had only six major ranking events but Hearn’s initiatives have produced more opportunities for the potters to earn
a place in the elite penal of players.
Winner of the 2011-12 Players Tour Championship (PTC) Grand Finals, Stephen Lee of England dropped out of the Top 16 last year but this season, the Englishman won back his place after putting up excellent snooker display at the baize in many snooker events.
The Englishman is quite excited after reaching the Top 16 and believes that Hearn’s steps to change the formats of snooker events has helped him to achieving this status.
Undoubtedly, the current World Snooker Chairman, Barry Hearn has played an important role in bringing about such revolutionary change in the game. Now the potters have a number of snooker events in a season including 12 Players Tour Championship (PTC) events
to improve their rankings and skills. Lee credits Hearn for all the positives of the game and thinks that because of Hearn’s impressive alterations.
While speaking to On Cue in his interview, Lee said, “I can't speak highly enough of Barry. He made it perfectly clear at his first meeting with the players that if you want something, you've got to go and get it. No-one is going to give you anything.”
He added, “I'm a big believer in getting out of bed the right side and for a couple of years I wasn't and I felt low. With so many tournament and more to come, I'm all in. It was a great achievement for me to get back into the top 16 and that gave me a bit
of belief to come back to where I am now.”
Lee is now heading to Sheffield for his participation in the 2012 World Snooker Championship where he will be meeting with compatriot Andrew Higginson.
