Stephen Maguire feels confident as he prefers to play Ding Junhui in final of 2012 China Open
Former UK Champion, Scotland’s Stephen Maguire played brilliantly against the winner of 2011-12 Players Tour Championship (PTC) Grand Finals, England’s Stephen Lee in the semi-final clash of the 2012 China Open snooker tournament. The Scotsman totally outclassed
the Englishman during the penultimate battle by the score line of 6-2 at the Beijing University Students Gymnasium arena.
The Maggi will be facing the winner of second semi-final match between the 2012 Welsh Open winner, China’s Ding Junhui and the former World Snooker Champion, England’s Peter Ebdon. However, the Chinese event finalist prefers the Chinese potter to play in
the finals. He believes Junhui has been a superb performer during the second half of the current season.
While speaking to World Snooker after winning his match against Lee, Maguire said, “There's one more match to go now. I've played hard match snooker all week and hopefully I can carry it on to tomorrow. I'm confident, like I said yesterday winning matches
gives you confidence and I've won four matches against four of the top players in the world this week.”
The Livewire added, “I would actually rather play Ding in the final because I think the atmosphere out there would be a lot better. No disrespect to Peter because if he wins then fair enough, but I think there will be more of a crowd and an atmosphere and
a buzz about the final if Ding wins.”
Junhui made a superb comeback in the 2012 China Open after his first match against Ben Woollaston. The Chinese potter is the only hope left for the host nation and is looking forward to make an appearance at the arena against Peter Ebdon. The match up will
be tough between the two as both players are on top of their form.
Meanwhile, Maguire is feeling very confident of playing against any of the pair because he feels his form in the current tournament has improved. His main goal is the upcoming 2012 World Snooker Championship where he will be among the best cuemen of the
world. The Scottish cueist is getting ready to take part in the championship.
