Stephen Maguire pulls out of Players Tour Championship 2010-11 Grand Final for 3rd child birth
Scotsman Stephen Maguire has withdrawn from PartyCasino.com Players Tour Championship (PTC) 2010-11 Grand Final today. The 30-year-old PTC Event 1 and Euro PTC Event 4 runner-up, was up against Stuart Bingham of England but pulled out just a day before the event starts as his wife, Sharon, is expecting their third baby. Maguire already has a son named Fin and a daughter called Faith.
Stephen Maguire, who turned 30 two days ago, is at number 11 in the PTC order of merit, which was revised on 22nd November after the Euro Players Tour Championship event 6 held from November 19 to 21. The cueist from Glasgow was set to play against Stuart Bingham of England in the first round of PartyCasino.com PTC grand final running from March 16 to 20 at the Helix in Dublin, Ireland. Now the Englishman will get a walkover and move into the next round, the last 16, to play Marcus Campbell of Scotland.
The PTC events started on 24th of June 2010 and ended on October 17th after the completion of PTC Event 6. Maguire reached to the final of PTC Event 1 at World Snooker Academy in Sheffield where he faced a whitewash defeat 4-0 to the Welshman, Mark Williams after he crashed Tom Ford 4-2 in the quarterfinal and Marco Fu of Hong Kong 4-1 in the semi final.
The 2004 UK Championship winner and current world number 6, Stephen Maguire beat Anthony Hamilton 4-2 in the quarterfinal and Liam Highfield 4-2 in the semi final to storm into the final of the EPTC Event 4 where he lost to Stephen Lee 2-4.
The 2011 Welsh Open runner-up moved to the quarterfinal stages of PTC Event 4 crushing Nick Jennings 4-0, Jamie Cope 4-1, Mark Davis 4-3 and Peter Lines 4-0 in the fourth section, but was white washed 4-0 by Welshman Dominic Dale.
The PartyCasino.com PTC 2010-11 grand final is going to be held on 16th of March at the Helix in Dublin, Ireland now featuring 23 players, excluding Stephen Maguire, qualified on the basis of the PTC order of merit managed after 12 PTC events altogether, six PTC events and six EPTC events.
