Croft also played well, offering good support to his team’s opener. Both players played well, contributing 33 runs for the second wicket stand. However, the team’s skipper was unable to carry onto the start he got to his innings and was sent back to the
pavilion after adding 17 runs to the total off 18 deliveries.
The lower-order struggled to make a significant impression, as wickets started to tumble in the innings. Only the top-three players in the Lancashire innings managed to reach double figures whereas the rest struggled to get going.
Karl Brown was dismissed after managing just seven runs in his short stay at the crease. He was followed by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MF-Maharoof-c1944, who only managed a couple of runs in his struggling outing.

Warwickshire’s Ant Botha did a fabulous job, restricting the opposition to 139/8 in the end. He picked up two wickets for 19 runs in his four-over spell.
