Stephen Rowlings ousts Jak Jones in Qualifiers Round 1 of 2011 World Snooker Championship
Jak Jones has lost to Stephen Rowlings by a frame score of 10-3 in the qualifying round one of the 2011 World Snooker Championship held at the World Snooker Academy.
Both newly turned professionals had a score line of 29-86, 84-17, 39-91, 5-78, 17-76, 86-37, 0-108, 20-66, 1-70, 54-51, 39-87, 25-65, and 6-81.
The frames played between the players were cagey as they were seen having a bout of safety in most of the frames.
In the opening frame, both players were seen toiling their rhythms. Many chances were exchanged between both until Rowlings finally was able to roll in breaks of 41 and 40 to have the first blood 1-0. In the next one Jones played a tactical game and levelled
things up by 1-1 before Rowlings roared back to win the next three in a row enjoying breaks of 40, 35 and 76 respectively. Jones had his chances in these three frames but he was not able to avail any one of them.
Rowlings was again the first one to be among the balls in the sixth. He got two chances but this time could only produce a break of 33 whereas Jones responded with a couple of quick fires 22, 42 and 22 to come within one frame.
However, the gained confidence of Jones was shuttered badly in the next one as Rowlings compiled a magnificent match-highest break of 108. He also won the following two frames with dominant breaks of 48 and 49.
Jones, who was now trailing his opponent by a frame score of 7-2, managed in winning the tenth. Although he again had given a frame winning chance to his opponent but was lucky to get back on the table as Rowlings broke at a break of 40. Jones made the scores
7-3 but was not able to clinch any more frames.
Rowlings won the last three needed frames for him and sealed his victory by 10-3. He made breaks of 55, 55 and a couple of 44 and 37 in the last one.
During the whole match, Jak Jones was given plenty of chances but he could not produce a good game and thus was punished by his opponent.
Stephen Rowlings, who has now reached round 2 of the qualifiers, is now three rounds away to have his place in the Crucible Theatre. He will face the snowy, Paul Davison, in his round 2 match.
