Steppe, climate, coldness, why it's like that, etc.?

Can someone tell me why steppe's climate is dry/warm, and why it's cold at night and in the winter? Thanks.

It is always cooler at night in general, even in the summer. It is cooler at night because the sun isn't hitting the Earth.

During the Winter it is cooler because the tilt of the Earth is away from the sun. For example, the Northern Hemisphere's tilt is away from the sun and the Southern Hemisphere's tilt is towards the sun.

The climate is usually dry and warm because there isn't enough rain or snow to wet it up and/or cool it off.
