So I am 12 years old, live in CA. Anyway I put my pic and some info on this website for like acting parts or whatever. Well a disney channel producer called and asked if i was serious about acting. Of course I said yes, he said he would call back in a couple of days. I want to start out with being an extra. But what are the steps for getting an agent and acting classes, ect.

Please help, I really want this and need some info.

  1. ..Can I ask you one thing?

Do you know what the casting couch is?

People are probably gonna thumbs me down for asking that, but if it seems outrageous me asking a 12 year old that, you've got a rude awakening when you enter the industry. But, I'm just gonna start off to say, you really need to love what you do. Chances are one in a million that anyone makes it in that industry, and for every breakout star you see, there's about a hundred thousand who DIDN'T make it. I'm around your age, I'm fourteen, exept i'm a singer. First off, are you really sure that he was a Disney producer? There's alot of shady people in this industry who really just want to use you. I know that sounds to cliche, but I've seen it more than once and you need to protect yourself. I'm not saying don't go with this guy, but just be cautious.

From what I understand, you're intrested in Disney, correct?

The first step is to find a talent agency. Considering you live in CA those probably shouldn't be too hard to find, just look around on yellowpages. Agents get 10 percent of royalties, managers get 15. Anyone charging up front is a scam. I would also try finding somewhere like John Casablanca's to help you out a little.

If you're just in the buisness to be famous, your career isn't going to work out in the long run. Take it from me, just make sure you love what you do. If you like Disney, do it, but just be cautious of what you're doing to your potential career.

  2. be very careful. there are a LOT of scammers out there who take advantage of innocent people like you trying to break into the business. go to www.sag.org and find a SAG registered agency in your area, call and make an appointment for an interview. now for acting classes, those arent too hard to find.  you can go to a place like john robert powers, if you want to get totally ripped off for thousands of dollars.  or you can find somewhere more local for acting classes, such as any childrens theatres near you? start acting in local and community productions, to build experience.

its a hard business to break into, but if you really REALLY want it, you'll make it.

  3. what site did you put it on?

  4. you will find out when you are there.

  5. You're getting scammed stupid. First of all, producers don't cast, casting agents do. Casting agents don't call random people, they contact talent agencies and agents, or issue cattle calls or open casting. And NO legit person will talk to a 12 year old, even to chat. All they could say to you is "Is your legal guardian home?" They have to speak to the parent or guardian. Legit people don't go trolling websites either. Buy a clue.
