Steps which PCB can take to avoid crisis
With the ongoing controversies, there is always a likelihood of something unpleasant coming to the way of Pakistan cricket. Series after series the team and board has been hit by some sort of controversy which has hurt the image of the nation and shocked
the fans worldwide. Whether it was the attack on the Sri-Lankan team or players involved in any scandals, the end result has been the same; damaging Pakistan cricket.
The question is: how can Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) come out of this ongoing crisis and bring back cricket in Pakistan to rise from the ashes of controversies?
There are a lot of steps which need to be taken to revive the board and cricket in Pakistan. The first and the foremost thing is to bring elected people in the board who can take the job seriously and put the board back on track. There should be a retiring
age for the board officials, so that fresh people can take over with young minds and fresh ideas.
Secondly, the domestic structure should be strong enough and should be given coverage so that talent hunt can be made easier. The domestic cricketers should be paid well and they should be educated on this level of what to do and what to avoid. Apart from
this, discipline should be an integral part of domestic cricket so that players don develop bad habits if they are selected at the national level.
The marketing affairs of the domestic competitions should be taken seriously. In order to attract the crowds, some entertainment facilities should also be provided like a concert during the break of an innings. Once all this is being covered by a sports
channel, then PCB can portray a positive image of the security situation and the cricket following in Pakistan.
Another important thing is to attract foreign players to play the domestic cricket in Pakistan. Although the foreign players might not be interested in playing cricket in the country, this can change by proper planning.
A domestic tournament can be held with the collaboration of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 (U.A.E) in the Emirates with domestic teams from Pakistan and the U.A.E involving foreign players as well. This will give exposure to young talent and players will get some
competitive cricket which will make them mentally strong to compete at the highest level.
Moreover, disciplinary action must be taken at the domestic level against players who are involved in any misconduct so that the culprits can be barred at the very basic level rather than identifying them after they reach the highest level.
PCB should also make the selection process transparent, not only at the national level, but at the grass root level as well. The talent hunt programs must be transparent and the deserving must be selected only. PCB should also revive cricket in schools,
colleges and universities to find more and more talent amongst the students as well.
On the tours, the national players shouldn’t be allowed to meet outsiders and strict measures should be taken against players who do so. If any player is found guilty of a breech, he should be at once investigated internally by the officials on the tour
and for that the officials must also be competent enough to do so. No player should be allowed to be bigger than the game itself as at the end of the day it’s the country’s name which is at stake.
Finally, the PCB should clearly identify its friends and foes. There have been times where the PCB has favored other boards by standing with them. However, once Pakistan has faced difficulties, other boards have not stood by their side.
If all these steps are taken, then PCB can deliver positively and there is no reason that the revival of cricket in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 can be hindered. All it requires is dedication, transparency and removal of bias from the board to head into the right direction.
