Stereo system: Onkyo, receiver does not work unless you turn it up to about 90

We can not figure out what is going on. The Game/TV feature works just fine as does the DVD feature. We came home one afternoon and the plug that the system was plugged into was shot, but the entire system was off. Now, like I said, the receiver only works if you turn the volume up to about 90 and then you can barely hear it.

Thanks for your answers!!!

  1. You probably had a power surge and it has damaged the internal components of the receiver. Time for a new receiver, you're lucky that it was the only thing affected.

  2. Sounds like you may have gotten a power surge that hit it?

Either way, that doesn't sound good, but it doesn't sound like it couldn't be fixed.

My suggestion would be to contact Onkyo customer service and ask them about the problem. Talk is free and you may be able to get some good, informed, ideas on how to get it working right again.

Wish I knew more to help.
