  1. Ok, Depends On What Kind Of Cash You Want To Be Putting Down On This

You Might Want To Get A Normal System (Amp, 2 Set of Speakers), But Get A Subwoofer To Go With This, You Would Need To Make Sure The Amp Had A Subwoofer Output, Then Just Buy 12 Inch Sub (JBL, JL Audio, Wharfedale, Mission), And You Will Be Blowing Yours And Their Minds!!!

  2. That all depends on your budget. You can spend anywhere from several hundred dollars up to hundreds of thousands of dollars. At the bare minimum you want a receiver, two speakers, and a sub-woofer. Your receiver will be 5.1 or 7.1 capable but you don't have to use it to start out with. When you are talking about sound going through floors or walls you are pretty much talking about the sub-woofer so you want a good sub. I'd recommend either SVS or HSU. They are both internet retailers. You won't see them at your local store but for the price they blow away anything you can get at BB or CC. Do some research and learn about home theater. Below are a couple links to AV forums where you can learn a lot.

  3. Get a decent receiver or integrated amplifier from Onkyo or Yamaha, or a nice used NAD, Arcam, or Rotel, or Adcom.

Then, for speakers, find a nice, used pair of 12" or 15" Cerwin-Vega speakers and you will have all the power and bass that you will need to drown out anything the neighbors can put through the walls.  ;-)
