Steve Ackling to organise a charity tournament
Steve Ackling, the Charnwood Forest Golf Club's captain, will be organising a 150-hole charity tournament for fundraising on June 1, 2012.
Ackling's aim is to boost revenues and finical figures for Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People and Teenage Cancer Trust.
This not-for-profit organisation is working to protect the humanity and help the needy. Hence, Ackling's efforts of supporting the cause are impressive.
The tournament is named as Charity Golf Challenge and has had a remarkable history since 1913. This year, it is featuring 150 holes, which have to be completed in 14 hours.
It is a local charity event and Ackling is supporting it in an exciting way. He supported the charity by other means as well and this year the mega fundraising will be from a golf tournament.
The Englishman is popular for his involvement in charity work. He always wanted to organise special events and programmes for fundraising.
He is passionate and a perfect captain for the Charnwood Forest Golf Club.
The Charnwood Forest Golf Club is one of the oldest in Leicestershire, United Kingdom. Many leading tournaments have been played on this course and many memorable scores were also seen.
It was Harry Flude, the Charnwood Forest member, who had completed the 150 holes in just 13 hours in 1913.
Flude started his game at 6.30am and finished in exactly 13 hours and 8 minutes. This was the highest achieved record on this course and the best as well. No other player has been able to beat this record since June 1, 1913.
Now, this challenge has surfaced again. Ackling has organised an event, where many professional and amateurs will try their luck to beat Flude’s record.
Again June 1, 2012, is the selected date for the challenge. All the players will line up on the course and will be teeing off at 5am.
The result is impossible to be judged at this point, as it is almost a century for the record now. The idea behind the event is grabbing everyone’s interest.
Increased interest means more players and spectators will grace the course. This will boost revenues for Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People and Teenage Cancer Trust can be supported in a better way.
