Steve Breaston will be in the lineup for the Arizona Cardinals
Head coach Ken Whisenhunt has confirmed that Arizona Cardinals receiver Steve Breaston, who has missed three games while recovering from arthroscopic knee surgery, will be in the lineup when the Cardinals host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, 31 October.
Breaston originally injured his knee in week two when the Cardinals lost 41-7 to the Atlanta Falcons. Breaston tried to play through the injury the following week before having the knee looked at.
Breaston spoke recently about how things have been since being sidelined and how he has been recovering.
"It's tough, but it comes with the game. I was looking forward to being back last week, so that's disappointing. I just want to play some football again.
"It's sore, but that's expected. I felt good out there running. I'm getting my speed up, getting my burst together. I'm really ready to play on Sunday."
The Cardinals are currently ranked dead last in the NFL on offence, and will benefit enormously from Breaston's return, as Arizona looks to add a bit of chemistry to their team, which is currently being led by rookie quarterback Max Hall.
"You've got a veteran guy that's made a lot of big plays for us that you have confidence in," Whisenhunt said of Breaston. "I know Max got a number of reps with Steve in camp, so there's a comfort factor there. It's always good when you have a player like
Steve come back. That can only help us."
Breaston set career highs two seasons ago when he caught 77 passes for over 1000 yards. Before having the scope on his knee, Breaston had caught 14 passes for 183 yards and one touchdown.
The Cardinals are currently 3-3 on the season and could really use a lift as they look to keep pace in the NFC West.
