Steve Bruce does not expect http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Danny-Welbeck-c10233 to stay at Sunderland AFC
Sunderland AFC manager Steve Bruce does not expect Danny Welbeck to stay at the club once his contract expires at the end of the season. Welbeck joined the Black Cats from Manchester United at the start of the season on a 1-year
loan deal.
Bruce, who is extremely impressed by the young boy’s talents, wished that he could retain the striker’s services if he were able to sign him on a permanent basis.
However, the former Wigan Athletic manager revealed that he did not expect United to let go off their youthful sensation.
Welbeck had a memorable outing on Saturday when he scored the only goal in the match against Bolton Wanderers to give his side a valuable win.
With the 32nd minute strike against Bolton, Danny took his goal tally to 5 for the season.
The Englishman found his scoring form against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 FC when he netted in the 3rd goal in Sunderland’s 3-0 thrashing of the English Champions at Stamford Bridge.
The manager heaped praise on the 20-year old and stated that the lad had tremendously improved his game under his supervision.
He said, “He’s a fantastic talent and he’s benefitted from playing regularly. He’s been terrific for us, Manchester United have got a very good player on their hands. I always knew that was going to be a problem, deep down.
You never know, Sir Alex Ferguson might get generous in his old age.”
The former Manchester United player was also pleased with his side’s overall performance and said that his side deserved the win.
Sunderland were more creative than their opponents and threatened Jussi Jaaskelainen’s goal throughout the 90 minutes.
Bruce also told that he believes he could aim for a top 6 finish if his team continues to play positive football until the end of the season.
However, the former Birmingham City boss was wary that his players could be the victim of complacency if they took their focus off their game.
He added, “That’s the biggest problem I’ve got, expectation goes through the roof. To be top six in this division feels great. We need to keep our feet on the floor and see where it takes us. You always know around the corner
there’s going to be a tough time, but overall, we’ve been resilient enough, we’ve got a goal in us, and we’ve got some good young players.”
Steve faces his old side Manchester United in English Premier League next weekend. The Englishman spent 9 successful years at Old Trafford (1987-1996), and registered a total of 309 appearances for the Red Devils.
