Steve Clarke claims Luis Suarez has a ‘mental edge’ to become a top player – EPL News
Liverpool assistant manager Steve Clarke has claimed that the Reds influential striker Luis Suarez has a ‘mental edge’ that makes him one of the best players in the Barclays Premier League.
The Uruguayan joined the Merseyside club from the Dutch side, Ajax Amsterdam, in January and has become a fan favourite after his extraordinary start to life at Anfield. The 24-year-old has made an impressive start to the ongoing 2011/12 Premier League campaign,
and has already been named man of the match five times this season.
The Liverpool assistant manager believes that the Uruguayan striker is among the best players around and is confident that the 24-year-old will be able to prove his worth this season. The assistant manager has asserted that Suarez has all the attributes
to become a Kop legend.
Clarke told the club's official website: “There are a lot of good players at this level and the really, really top ones have got that mental edge that drives them on all the time and produces the kind of performances that we've had from Luis so far.
The Reds’ assistant manager believes Suarez’s intelligence and mentality separates him from other players and added, “With any top player the mentality is always that bit stronger, that's what separates them.” 
The 24-year-old attacker was an instant hit at Liverpool following his arrival, as he quickly adapted to English football. Clarke believes that Suarez’s extraordinary attitude on and off the pitch has helped him to settle in the Merseyside club.
The Liverpool assistant boss also hailed former Ajax player’s commitment and hard work in the training and has revealed that the attacker always gives his best during the practice sessions.
"He’s very grounded. He comes back in on Monday morning and works as hard as ever in training, he upsets all the defenders, scores a couple of goals and that's what he's all about,” Steve Clarke concluded.
