West Bromwich Albion have named Steve Clarke as the new manager at the Hawthorns, after Roy Hodgson issued his resignation from the post following his appointment as the national manager of the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 team.
The 48-year old Scott recently left the post of assistant manager at Anfield. He joined the Merseyside club in January 2011 alongside the former Reds boss Kenny Dalglish. His arrival at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 was reportedly masterminded by Dalglish, and following his
exit from the management and the arrival of Brendan Rodgers, it was expected that Clarke will head out from the club in order to make way for an assistant manager of Rodgers’ choice.
Clarke, appointed as the senior manager for the first time in his career, was over the moon upon getting the West Brom http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 and felt his hard work as an assistant had finally paid off.
He told the reporters in an interview, “Becoming a head coach in my own right has always been an ambition of mine and I feel I have served my apprenticeship. I've done everything I could as an assistant.”
The Scott worked as a deputy under the likes of Jose Mourinho, Gianfranco Zola, Ruud Gullit and Dalglish, and admitted working alongside some of the world class managers had helped him polish his managing abilities.
Following Hodgson’s departure from the club, the Baggies had reportedly pursued http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ralf-c30492 Rangnick as possible replacements for the veteran Englishman.
West Brom finished the league table at tenth spot last season and Clarke believed that Hodgson had already laid down a strong foundation for him. He vowed to continue the process of progression in the coming term, and felt he had a lot of talented and quality
players at his disposal.
He continued, “West Bromwich Albion strikes me as a friendly, really well organised club with a fantastic structure in place… The team and supporters have had some good times in recent years and, with their help, I would like to think those good times can
continue following my appointment.”
He went to say that he was honoured to be a part of a club of West Brom’s stature, and was excited about meeting the new challenges in the coming term.
