West Bromwich Albion have started off their Premier League season on a high, and manager Steve Clarke is delighted with his team’s performance and is targeting  the Capital One Cup.
The Baggies played their Premier League opener at home against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 and managed a 3-0 victory against the Reds. West Brom score all three goals in emphatic fashion, with Zoltan Gera’s volley the pick of the bunch.
After dismantling Liverpool, the team travelled to North London to face Tottenham at White Hart Lane. West Brom spent the greater part of the game defending against a dangerous Tottenham side. The Baggies were however resilient in defence and held the opposition
at bay.
However, Tottenham managed to find the back of the net in the second half through a Benoit Assou-Ekotto strike. The game looked to be Tottenham’s, but West Brom had other plans. The Baggies quickly started going for the equalizer and attacked towards the
end of the game.
They kept on knocking and soon had their reward in stoppage time as James Morrison scored for them and earned West Brom a vital away point.
Steve Clark was delighted with the result and West Brom’s fine start to the Premier League campaign. The manager is confident that this team can push for silverware this season, and is targeting the Capital One Cup.
West Brom will take on League One leaders Yeovil in the competition, and Clarke expects his team to be ready for the challenge. Speaking to the club’s official website, he said:
"It's their cup final. We're the Premier League big boys and we're going down there, they're hoping to cause a cup upset.”
"All I'll say to our players is our ambition to win the League Cup has to be bigger than Yeovil's ambition to do well in one game against us.”
"It is a competition that is open. We will go down there and be red-hot favourites - and so we should be - but we need to match the attitude at Yeovil.”
"We need to be professional. We'll go down there, we'll try to get ourselves into the next round and we will attack the competition."
