Sussex had to chase down 204 runs for victory against Surrey in a match of the Friends Life Twenty20, at the Whitgift School, Croydon in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 on Monday, July 4, 2011.
The target was not an easy one, but if any team had the depth in their batting to achieve huge totals, it was Sussex. They had a blend of youth and experience and some explosive players, who could change the complexion of a game in quick time.
However, the home team managed to defend the target by 18 runs in the end, as Sussex were restricted to 185 for the loss of five wickets at the end of their allotted 20 overs.
The playing conditions didn’t change much and the pitch was very good for the batsmen. There was no assistance for the bowlers in the wicket, which made the game interesting for the spectators in the end.
The visitors’ innings was started by their regular pair of openers, Ben Brown and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/LJ-Wright-c1841. They gave a tremendous start to their side and it appeared that the match would be won easily by them.
