After getting snubbed by Durham, the fast bowler, Steve Harmison, has shown his desire to play for his home county once again but is thankful to Yorkshire for giving him an opportunity to revive his career.
The 33-year-old burst into the international scene in 2002 and made an immediate impact for England, as he was rated as one of the finest young talents at that moment.
The 6 feet 4 inches tall bowler went on to play 63 Tests and 58 One Day Internationals for the Poms and picked up more than 300 scalps at the global arena, which is not bad for a speedster. The Durham fast bowler remained an integral part of the English
side under the leadership of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 at home in 2005.
Harmison went through a decline when he failed to make an impression in the Ashes, played in 2009 in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013, consequently losing the selectors’ confidence, and with that, his place in the team.
The lanky fast bowler has not been able to regain the form at the county circuit and his international career almost seems to be over now, resulting in an exclusion from the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Durham-c782 squad earlier this season.
Harmison expressed that cricket remains his bread and butter and wishes to be back playing for Durham, although http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yorkshire-c867 has give him a lifeline in the on-going season.
"I still have the burning desire and the hunger to play cricket for my home county. The only thing I've ever been able to do is play cricket and it's one thing being frustrated not playing cricket when you're injured, but when you're not playing cricket
because of the weather or because you're not being picked, it's doubly frustrating," he said.
However, the star cricketer wants to perform well for his new county and vows to pick up more and more wickets in the remainder of the season.
Harmison added, "I feel like I'm a proud man and an honest person though, so if I've got a shirt on that has given me the chance to play. I'll do everything I possibly can for that chance."
